Of the 408 employees (31.12.2005) of Zapf Creation AG, 233 are based in Roedental
and 175 work for the Group's international subsidiaries. Zapf Creation
AG, as the company is currently known, was originally established in
1932 by Max and Rosa Zapf. The company was acquired by TA Triumph-Adler
in 1992 and had its successful IPO in April 1999. Since December 2001,
Zapf Creation stock has been listed in the Index SDax segment of the
German stock exchange.
Zapf Creation has its high-quality branded play concepts produced by selected suppliers in China. Many years of continued collaboration have resulted in a partnership relationship between Zapf Creation and its suppliers. This relationship is based on trustful cooperation and uniform work and social standards. Cooperation between Zapf Creation AG and its Chinese suppliers is governed by the Code of Business Practices established by the International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI). In October 2002, Zapf Creation was one of the first German companies to adopt the ICTI standard. The ICTI Code of Business Practices defines mandatory work and social standards which must be met by company's suppliers. Compliance is monitored regularly by Zapf Creation and authorized auditors. Even before adopting the ICTI Code, Zapf Creation had implemented its own Code of Practice for its suppliers. This code, which was very similar to the ICTI Code, was also monitored by independent auditors.
The branded play concepts of Zapf Creation are enjoyed by children all over the world. This fact creates a special closeness and connection to children. Zapf Creation is deeply committed to the welfare of children and therefore supports the SOS Children's Villages organization. The company acts as a long-term sponsor of the nine SOS Children's Villages in China. Zapf Creation also supports the organization's German institutions through various projects.
